If you’re wondering why there’s a picture from The Simpsons framing this post, it’s because in this scene Mr. Burns is showing Homer how his team of 1,000 monkeys will write the next great American novel. “It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times?!” Anyway, sportswriters may be doomed to something similar: robot journalists automatically producing game recaps from box scores. Will automated reporting of run-of-the-mill stories lead to more in-depth reporting? That’s one topic of discussion on this week’s JTech Weekly with Chris Cameron and Josh Sprague.

Other topics include a recap of the the events from Remake Camp, an unconference on the future of journalism, as well as a debate over the semantics of “off the record” vs. “on background,” and the future of cable TV on the Internet. Show notes will be up soon!
